Cleaning, maintaining and filling teeth that have cavities are part of a good preventive program. Restoring damaged teeth is essential for promoting dental health and maintaining the teeth that you have.

While we are devoted to preventing dental disease and cavities and maintaining your teeth, we are also committed to improving your smile and confidence.

Cosmetic dentistry is devoted to improving the appearance of teeth. Even fillings can now be used which closely match a person’s teeth. There are many different options to improve the appearance of teeth which include crowns, veneers, bridges and implants.

Teeth whitening is another procedure that is performed in office.  Teeth become discolored over time due to the different kinds of food that we eat.  Whitening your teeth can rejuvenate your smile and make you appear more confident, attractive and youthful.

The office is proud to use 40% Opalescence Boost to give you an instant result.  We also provide take home trays to maintain teeth whitening at home.  The strength of the whitening gel that is used can only be obtained by a licensed professional, which makes our results better than at-home whitening kits.

When the tooth’s nerve/pulp is damaged, endodontic care is necessary.  The nerve/pulp of the tooth is located in the center. A cavity that continues to grow in a tooth will result in decay to the nerve/pulp of the tooth and causes dental pain. A root canal involves removing the infection from the pulp chamber inside the tooth and sealing it to prevent further bacteria from entering the tooth.

When a dental cavity is left untreated, bacteria that lives in the mouth can cause an infection that can kill/damage the pulp inside a tooth. The infection from that tooth may spread to other teeth and compromise those teeth as well.

Common Symptoms when Root Canal Therapy could be needed include:
  • A toothache
  • Sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet, or sour substances
  • Swelling or inflammation around your tooth
  • Sleepless nights due to dental pain
  • A consistent bad taste in your mouth
  • Constant bad breathe

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and feel that it may require attention, please give us a call for more information or to schedule an appointment at one of our Dental offices in New York or New Jersey.

A crown/cap in the dental field refers to the restoration of teeth with the use of materials that are fabricated by indirect methods which are cemented in place. They are a great option to protect a tooth that has undergone root canal treatment, has a large cavity, or a tooth that already has a large filling and needs it to be replaced.  Crowns completely cover the tooth and help protect it from chewing forces.

A crown can also be used to hold a bridge in place or for cosmetic purposes. Crowns can be made of plastic, stainless steel, porcelain fused to stainless steel or can be all ceramic. If there is a need to replace one or more missing teeth, a bridge is a possibility. Bridges are held in place by natural teeth or even by implants. First a crown is made for each of the teeth on either side of the open space. Bridges are made of metal, porcelain or ceramic.

Generally, the teeth to be crowned are prepared by one of our dentists and records are then given to a dental technician who will fabricate the crown or bridge.  The crown or bridge is then returned to the office to be inserted at a subsequent dental appointment.

As new technology and material chemistry has evolved, the Lee Family Dentistry evolves too to provide you with the most suiting methods of restoration.

Dentures and partial dentures are a good cost effective way to replace teeth. They are now more natural looking than ever. Dentures are made from impressions taken of your mouth. A conventional full denture is made when all of a patient’s teeth have been removed and the mouth is completely healed. Healing may take several months.

An immediate full denture can be used immediately following tooth extractions, but must be relined as the jaw heals. Partial dentures are supported by a metal or non metal frame attached to the patient’s natural teeth.

Dr. LyVan and his dental professionals at Lee Family Dentistry offer services for orthodontics in New York and New Jersey.

It is recommended that all children have an orthodontic exam by the age of seven. Today, braces are less conspicuous and uncomfortable than they used to be. It is most effective if orthodontic treatment begin early before tooth development and jaw growth have not reached completion.

We offer Invisalign/clear aligner therapy.  Invisalign clear aligners are custom made plastic trays that are more esthetic than traditional metal braces and people can hardly tell that you are wearing them.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement that is used in prosthetic dentistry to support restorations (crowns) that resemble a tooth or group of teeth. Implants can be thought of as screws or metal posts that are placed into the bone of your upper or lower jaw.  After the bone has had time to bind to the implant (usually 4-6 months), a crown can be made that will sit on top of the implant.

If the patient’s jaw does not have sufficient bone for an implant, bone augmentation/bone development is necessary. Bone can be taken from the patient’s own body or bone graft materials can be used to build the bone for implant placement.

Dr. LyVan and his dental professionals at Lee Family Dentistry offer Surgical Extraction of Wisdom Teeth Services in New York and New Jersey.

Some individuals will have enough space for wisdom teeth to enter the mouth and have no issues.  However, the majority of people do not have enough space for wisdom teeth and need to have them removed.  If wisdom teeth are not removed, they can cause damage to adjacent teeth.
